What the documents say, official links, and how our frequencies map to the research.

What the documents say

Declassified research (including the CIA Gateway report and related work) describes a method in which each ear receives a different audio frequency. The difference between the two tones is in the low range (roughly 3–7 Hz in the theta band). The brain does not hear two separate tones; it perceives a third, “phantom” rhythm—the binaural beat—equal to that difference. When this beat falls in the theta range, both hemispheres tend to synchronize. That state is what the documents refer to for focus, meditation, and altered states of consciousness.

No drugs, no mysticism required: it’s physics and physiology. One tone in the left ear, a slightly higher tone in the right ear; the brain follows the difference. We implement exactly that.

Techniques and concepts from the documents (in order)

Below are techniques and concepts extracted from the declassified Gateway/Hemi-Sync documents, in a logical order from foundation to advanced.

  1. Binaural beats / Hemi-Sync — Each ear receives a different audio frequency; the brain perceives a third “phantom” rhythm (the binaural beat) equal to the difference. When in the theta range (~3–7 Hz), both hemispheres tend to synchronize. No drugs or mysticism; it’s physics and physiology.
  2. Frequency-following response (FFR) — Brainwave rhythms tend to follow the binaural beat frequency, enabling targeted states (delta, theta, alpha, beta, gamma).
  3. Resonant breathing (Resonant Tuning) — Foundational exercise at the start of sessions: deep inhale drawing energy into the head, hold while “swirling” energy around the brain, slow exhale. Repeated in cycles, sometimes moving energy through body regions (chest/arms, abdomen, pelvic, legs, feet).
  4. Energy Conversion Box — Preparatory tool: symbolize worries and distractions (e.g. wallet for money, watch for time) and mentally place them in a box before exercises to detach from daily concerns.
  5. Resonant Energy Balloon (REBAL) — Visualization of a field of energy around and/or within the body (cocoon, balloon, or large field). Used to move into other energy states and as a protection tool.
  6. Focus 10 — “Mind awake, body asleep” — Physical body deeply relaxed while the mind stays conscious and alert. First major state in Gateway training; consciousness can function apart from body sensations.
  7. Focus 12 — Expanded awareness — Awareness extends beyond the five physical senses; used for nonphysical perception, problem-solving, and creative expression.
  8. Focus 15 — “No-time” state — Consciousness far from body signals; linear time recedes. Described as “The Void” and as a state of pure potential; thoughts slow and gaps between thoughts extend.
  9. Focus 21 — “The Bridge” — On the edge of the time/space continuum; bridge between physical and nonphysical realms, access to nonphysical energies and intelligences.
  10. Focus 35 — “The Gathering” — Communication with intelligences observing Earth; gathering of aspects of the total self (“I-There”).
  11. Related entry points — Documents compare Gateway with hypnosis, biofeedback, and transcendental meditation; these can sometimes accelerate movement into the Gateway experience.
  12. Biomedical and physics framework — The 1983 assessment uses biomedical models (e.g. Bentov), quantum mechanics, and theoretical physics to describe consciousness and out-of-body-type states in scientific terms rather than occult frameworks.

Our Hemi-Sync experience implements the binaural principle and frequency bands (delta, theta, alpha, beta, gamma) so you can explore sleep, meditation, focus, and peak cognition with the same underlying mechanism.

Document range → our frequencies

The documents often focus on the theta range (about 3.5–7 Hz). Here is how that maps to presets on the Hemi-Sync experience page:

Document / bandOur presetHz
Gateway / low theta3.5 Hz Gateway low3.5
Core Hemi-Sync (document range)5 Hz Hemi-Sync5
Creativity / memory6 Hz Creativity6
Subconscious / high theta7 Hz Subconscious7

We also offer presets below and above that band (delta 0.5–4 Hz, alpha 8–12 Hz, beta 14–30 Hz, gamma 40 Hz) so you can explore sleep, calm focus, concentration, and peak cognition with the same binaural principle.

How to use the experience

  1. Use stereo headphones. One tone goes to each ear; that’s how the binaural effect works.
  2. Open the Hemi-Sync experience page.
  3. Choose a preset (e.g. 5 Hz Hemi-Sync, 10 Hz Alpha, 40 Hz Gamma) or set the sliders yourself. Tapping a preset starts playback automatically.
  4. Keep volume low. You should hear a soft tone; the brain does the rest.
  5. Optional: use Guided session (voice + frequency) or Cycle A–Z for a full progression from deep to alert.
